Aniimo can share a stat total and still play nothing alike. The element decides which enemies it hits hard, the role decides what it's for in a party, and the evolution line decides how much raising it takes before it's worth using. Read them in that order and the numbers start to make sense.

Aniimo Elements and How Dual-Element Aniimo Fight
Every Aniimo has an element or a pair of them: Fire, Water, Grass, Lightning, Ice, Earth, Wind, Light or Dark. The element decides which enemies it hits hard. Inferlupa is Fire and Dark, so both elements count in every fight. Check what hurts each one before you send it into a boss.
Aniimo Roles and What Each One Does for Your Party
Every Aniimo has one role, and the role tells you what to expect from its stats.
- DPS Aniimo deal the damage. They lean on ATK and on skills worth spending EP on.
- Break Aniimo crack enemy stagger gauges with a high BREAK stat, which opens damage windows for everyone else.
- Support Aniimo buff their allies and hold the line with balanced defenses.
- Heal Aniimo keep the party standing, with high HP and M.DEF.
- Regen Aniimo sustain long fights with a high REGEN stat.
A party works best when every role has an owner, so fill the gap on your team before you chase a favorite element. To see what an Aniimo casts, check the Aniimo skills page.
How Aniimo Evolve Through Lumin, Gamma and Nova
Most Aniimo grow through Lumin, Gamma and then Nova. Some lines skip Gamma and go straight from Lumin to Nova, and a few Aniimo never evolve at all. Totals climb at every step, so an evolved Aniimo always beats its earlier self on paper. Read the card before you start raising a line.
Branches are where a line gets interesting, because each branch can lead to a different kind of Aniimo. Chirpi can become a Support, a DPS or a Break Aniimo. Hummin turns into either a Dark and Grass Regen Aniimo or a Grass Break one, and Pranky can end as a Water and Ice healer or a Grass and Water Regen Aniimo. Check the target's role, element and trait before you commit to a branch.
Aniimo Forms: Regional, Weather and Prismana Versions
Highland, Mountain Woods, Rainstorm, Nighttime, Prismana and the other forms belong to the same Aniilog entry as the base Aniimo. Highland Emberpup is still Emberpup. The element, stats and trait on each card are for the default form.
Where to Catch Aniimo, and Which Ones Never Spawn in the Wild
Wild Aniimo live in specific regions of Idyll, and many roam several. A few never show up as ordinary wild spawns. The starters are story picks, some come from evolving, crafting or rewards, and a few evolution targets turn up in the world only as field bosses. Don't comb the grass for those. Throw the right Aniipod at the ones that do spawn, and give your catches a held item once they're ready to fight.
Reading Stat Totals, Traits and Homeland Jobs
The stat total adds up HP, ATK, BREAK, P.DEF, M.DEF and REGEN. Compare totals between Aniimo at the same stage, then look at the stat its role leans on: ATK for DPS, BREAK for Break, REGEN for Regen, and HP and M.DEF for Heal.
Every Aniimo has one trait, and the trait often decides whether it earns a party slot. Many Aniimo also work jobs in your RV Homeland, such as Fire, Water, Carry or Leisure, and their job levels generally rise as they evolve. Mobility skills and Pathfinding, meaning the Fly, Swim and Climb levels an Aniimo has, round out how it moves around Idyll.
FAQ
Which Aniimo never evolve?
Helion, Lunara, Sparkelf, Somniwing, Irisalis and Besauce have no evolution line. Every other Aniimo belongs to a line, and each line ends in a Nova form.
Does evolving change an Aniimo's trait?
Only at a branch, and not every branch does it. Lines without a branch keep the same trait from start to finish. Flameruff's Scorching Flames becomes Full Energy on Inferlupa, and Pranky's Water Spirit becomes Power of Nature on Leafy.
Does gender matter for Aniimo?
Almost never. The exception is the Susuta line. Popota evolves into Piopiota only after an opposite-gender Susuta has followed you. Appeal wants an opposite-sex Susuta-family Aniimo on your team, and Radiant Charm boosts Water damage for every opposite-sex Aniimo on the team.
Can you catch Geoclaw, Tuckin, Infergon or Minespine in the wild?
Not as a normal wild spawn. Geoclaw evolves from Budclaw, Tuckin from Hummin, Infergon from Helmwhelp and Minespine from Geodeback. Each of them also turns up as a field boss in Idyll.
