WARDEN characters are the Delvers you play as in Trials, the co-op horror runs where the Corrupted hunt your team. Each character comes with an active ability and a role of Hunter, Support, Lure or Shield, and that role is a good guide to what the character brings to a group. You pick a character before each run, so knowing what each role does is the fastest way to build a team that holds up.

How WARDEN Characters Work in a Trial
A Trial is a co-op run through strange areas full of monsters, puzzles, bosses and hidden secrets. Your team has to hide from monsters, finish tasks and escape bosses while the Corrupted chase you through it. Your character is your tool for all of that: its active ability is there when you need it, and then it goes on a cooldown before you can use it again.
Hunter, Support, Lure and Shield Roles Explained
Each role has a main job, and the characters in it are built to do that job for the group. Shield characters help keep everyone standing. Filbert's ability stuns nearby Corrupted, which takes them out of the fight for a while, and Dawn's ability gives a teammate a temporary Shield Heart.
Hunter characters go after the Corrupted directly. Drakula's ability slows nearby Corrupted, which makes them easier to deal with during a chase.
Support characters such as Nova keep the team informed. Nova's ability reveals nearby threats, so the group sees trouble before it reaches them. Lure characters change how the Corrupted move through an area. Caspian's ability leaves puddles that slow any Corrupted that steps in them, and it gives nearby players a speed boost.
A role tells you the job a character is built for, but the ability decides how it works in a fight, so it's worth reading both.
How to Choose Characters for Your Team
A team built from mixed roles can handle more of what a Trial throws at it, since each role covers a different need. Start by asking what your group keeps running into. If enemies keep catching the team off guard, Nova gives you the warning you need. If the Corrupted keep closing in, a Hunter or Lure with a slow, or a Shield with a stun, buys the group room to get clear.
Timing matters just as much as the pick. Since each ability recharges after use, save it for the moment it will change the outcome rather than firing it the second it's ready.
Starting With Mylo and Unlocking More Characters
Every player starts as Mylo, so there's always a character ready to play from the first run. The other characters are unlocked over time, and Shooms, the game's currency, is what you spend to buy them. Each character you add gives your team another ability to draw on.
Starting with Mylo and building out from there lets you see which roles your group actually uses before you spend more.
FAQ
Who is the starting character in WARDEN?
Mylo is the character every player starts with, and Mylo is a Hunter. Mylo's ability boosts the damage and stamina regeneration of nearby allies, so Mylo stays useful after you've unlocked other characters.
Is there a best WARDEN character?
No single character is best in every Trial, since the right pick depends on what your group needs. Abilities can also change with game updates, so read what each one does in the game before you spend Shooms on it.
