Maps are cosmetic venues with social weight: the host picks the arena, so a bought map is something friends and lobbies actually see. Shop maps are always available at their listed prices, while event maps mark players who were there for a season, and the unique tier carries obtainment stories that make them conversation pieces.
- Ranked play ignores map ownership, so buy for private lobbies and style, not competitive edge.
- Event maps outside their window are gone until a rerun, which makes active events the only buying deadline.

How do you change the map?
