What Product Licenses Do in Supermarket Simulator

Your store runs on a simple routine. You order stock through the in-game computer, unpack it, put it on the shelves, and sell it at prices you set. A product license widens that routine by adding new types of products to what you can order, and some also bring new brands of items you may already carry.

Their value comes from variety. The more products you can sell, the more reasons shoppers have to pick something up on each visit, and the more you can earn from every visit.

How to Unlock and Buy a Product License

Every license has two requirements: a store level you have to reach and enough cash to pay for it. Store level grows from the experience you earn by selling items, so the regular sales that keep your shelves full are also what open up new licenses. When you qualify, open the license management panel on the in-game computer and buy it there. Once you buy one, its products appear straight away in the Market app on the computer, ready to order.

What to Set Up Before Buying a License

Some products need equipment before you can stock them. Cold items need a fridge, and frozen goods need a freezer. The first license you can buy, at store level 3, adds cold items like milk, cheese and eggs, so you'll want a fridge in place before you pay for it.

Three of the licenses add fresh fruit and vegetables. These go on produce stalls and are sold by weight, so you'll also need a scale before your first produce delivery arrives. Plan the cash for new furniture ahead of time so new products have somewhere to go the day they arrive.

Stocking Licensed Products and Turning Licenses On or Off

Once you own a license, shoppers start looking for its products and complain when one is missing. That's why it's better to keep a core set of items well stocked than to spread thin across everything.

You can also switch a purchased license on or off. Its products are hidden from the Market and Pricing screens while it's off, which is handy when a product line is more than your store can support for now, and you can turn it back on once you have the room.

Which Product Licenses Matter Most

The early licenses are the foundation. They add everyday staples and dairy, which need little more than shelves and a fridge to carry.

The middle licenses bring drinks, frozen food, cleaning supplies, fresh produce and condiments. The later ones reach into alcohol, meat, pet food, books and more. Frozen goods need freezers, and the later groups usually need more shelf space, so plan for those before you buy.

Do Product Licenses Bring In More Customers?

The number of shoppers who visit each day grows with your store level. Licenses are best thought of as more things to sell. Still, a wider range gives every shopper more to pick up, which can mean more money from each visit.
