All 16 Game Modes and Rules in Squid Game X

Updated on October 30, 2026 (7 days ago)

Squid Game X's game modes are the rounds you have to get through to keep playing. Many come from games in the show, like Red Light, Green Light and Tug of War. Each mode puts a different challenge in front of you, from quick reflexes to working with a group. If you fail a round, you're eliminated, so knowing how the modes connect and which ones depend on your team makes it much easier to last.

How Squid Game X game modes connect

A match moves through several game modes, and players who get through one carry on to the next. Anyone who fails is eliminated, so the group gets smaller as the match goes on. Each mode works like a filter, which means the players still standing at the end are the ones who handled every round. Because one failed round is enough to end your run, staying steady in each one usually counts for more than rushing through.

Individual timing vs teamwork in Squid Game X

Some modes come down to your own timing and reflexes, while others depend on the whole group working together. Pentathlon mixes both. It's played in teams of five, but only one teammate can take on a challenge at a time. When it's your turn, your own timing decides how you do, and the team's progress depends on every member doing their part.

Mingle leans on teamwork more heavily. You have to enter a room with exactly the called number of players before time runs out. It helps to agree on a door with your friends before the timer ends. Your own speed still counts, because a room with the wrong head count eliminates everyone inside, and anyone who doesn't reach a door is out as well.

Tug of War works the same way, because your side has to pull together to win. Knowing whether a mode asks for your own timing or the group's helps you decide where to focus.
