hololive Dreams is a rhythm and RPG game set in a theme park, built around hololive VTubers. Fishing takes place in the Soda Pop Lagoon area, and fish are the creatures you reel in there. Each fish is rated from one to five stars, and every catch earns rewards and is logged in the fish encyclopedia.

How Fishing Works in hololive Dreams
Fishing is a timing game, and bait comes first. You pick it before you cast, because it shapes which fish bite. When a fish bites, a fish icon starts moving up and down on the left, and you steer a yellow frame to follow it. Each tap of the hook button at the bottom right lifts the frame, and keeping the frame on the fish fills the right-hand gauge until it reaches GET.
Short taps work best for small adjustments, since holding the button pushes the frame past the fish and the gauge stops filling. If a fish suddenly darts away, wait for it to come back rather than chasing it.
How to Unlock Fishing in Soda Pop Lagoon
Fishing isn't open from the start. It unlocks once you clear Main Quest Chapter 3, Episode 3, "Build Up! Fishing Point," which is part of the Soda Pop Lagoon story. Until then you can't cast a line, so keep moving through the main story if you want to start fishing.
Where to Fish: The Three Fishing Spots
The main fishing spots are Fish Blue, Lamy's Snow Dome and Bokoboko Beacon. Each one has its own mix of fish, so the same bait can bring up different fish depending on where you are. If the fish you need isn't biting, move to another spot rather than waiting, since it may only live at the other one.
Bait Decides Which Fish Bite
Bait is your biggest choice before each cast. Every fish has a favorite bait, and the baits line up with star ratings, so the bait you bring tells you what you're fishing for. Fishing Bait is the favorite of one-star fish, and Fillet (Yellow) and Fillet (Red) are for two-star fish. Krill and Small Fish cover two- and three-star fish, Fried Chicken and Sausage cover three- and four-star fish, and Seaweed covers three- to five-star fish.
Plan your bait around the fish still missing from your encyclopedia, and match it to each fish's favorite.
Night-Only Fish and the Time of Day
The time of day changes what bites, too. Most fish can be caught in the morning and at night, but a group of fish only shows up at night. Giant Squid, Lobster and Hammerhead Shark are among them, and they're easy to miss if you only fish in the morning. Check the time before you cast so you're fishing when the fish you need are biting.
Fishing Rod Levels
Your fishing rod levels up as you catch more kinds of fish, and its level decides how well you can handle tougher catches. The rod reaches Level 2 during Chapter 3 of the main story, Level 3 after you've caught 20 species, and Level 4, the maximum, after 50 species.
High-star fish are hard to land without upgrades, so the rod matters most when you start going after them.
Rewards and the Fish Encyclopedia
Every fish you catch is recorded in the fish encyclopedia, which shows what you've caught and what's still missing. Each catch earns rewards, and you get extra rewards as your number of species grows, so the encyclopedia rewards variety as much as volume. Soda Pop Coins can be exchanged for various items.
Five-Star Fish and the Top Tier
Five-star fish sit at the top of the star chart. Seaweed is the favorite bait of every one of them, and each of the three main spots holds some of them, so finishing that tier means visiting every spot with seaweed on hand.
FAQ
Do you need to fish at night to catch five-star fish in hololive Dreams?
No. Every five-star fish can be caught in the morning as well as at night, so you can go after them at either time. The night-only fish are a separate group, and none of them are five-star.
Where do you catch the whale shark in hololive Dreams?
The whale shark is found at Bokoboko Beacon, one of the three main spots. It's a four-star fish that takes seaweed bait, and it can be caught in the morning or at night, so you don't need to plan around the clock for it.
Do you need a boat to fish the islands in hololive Dreams?
Yes. Islands in Soda Pop Lagoon are reached by boat, and each one has different fish. They only give two- to five-star fish, so if you're hunting a one-star fish, the three main spots are where to look.
