All 5 Vehicle Missions in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Updated on November 1, 2026 (about 5 hours ago)

Vehicle missions turn everyday emergency and service vehicles into structured side jobs for Toni. Each one starts from a specific vehicle type, sets a timer-driven objective, and rewards a permanent upgrade when you meet its target.

Vehicle sub-missions available from Portland, Staunton Island, and Shoreside Vale. Enter the listed vehicle on any island that has it and work toward the required level or fare band.

Start the right vehicle in the right place

Every mission begins by entering the correct vehicle and activating the sub-mission. Police vehicles start Vigilante, an Ambulance starts Paramedic, a Fire Truck starts Firefighter, a Taxi or Cabbie starts Taxi Driver, and a Trashmaster starts the sanitation run. The job uses the island where you activate it, so any island with the required vehicle can work.

Stay in the vehicle and keep it alive. Leaving the vehicle, getting busted or wasted, or letting the timer run out ends the attempt. For jobs that need a streak, you must build the streak in one session; Taxi fares on their own stack across sessions.

Chase levels, fares, and permanent payoffs

Vigilante, Paramedic, and Firefighter ask you to clear a chain of timed levels. Each level gets harder and the timer bonus carries forward, so early efficiency matters. Taxi Driver collects fares around the city and pays per drop-off, while the sanitation run clears trash points along a route.

Finishing the target band for each job grants a permanent benefit tied to that role, such as higher armor, more health, fire resistance, extra taxi fare behavior, or cleanup rewards. That benefit stays for the rest of Story Mode and often makes story missions easier, so tackling these jobs before late-game missions is a solid plan.

Notes for mobile differences

The portable versions use slightly lower level targets for some emergency jobs. Requirement notes the handheld caveat where the game documents it, so you can judge what your platform expects without mixing two rule sets.

FAQ

Q.

Which vehicle missions matter for Story Mode progression?

Vigilante, Paramedic, Firefighter, Taxi Driver, and the Trash Dash sanitation run make up the vehicle sub-mission track that feeds into longer term rewards.

Q.

Do I have to finish the level chain in one go?

For Vigilante, Paramedic, and Firefighter you must build the streak in one session without failing. Taxi fares accumulate across sessions, so you can pause and resume that job.

Q.

Where do I start each mission?

Enter the matching vehicle type and activate the sub-mission. Police cars and emergency vehicles spawn across all islands, so start where you found the right vehicle.

Q.

Is there a difference between original and handheld targets?

Some emergency jobs list a lower level target on handheld. Requirement records that detail where the game documents it, while the console target remains the baseline.

Q.

Is Noodle Punk part of this track?

No. Noodle sales and pizza delivery are asset jobs with their own rules, separate from these five vehicle sub-missions.
