In Dicey Dungeons, you fight by placing rolled dice on your gear. It's a dice-based roguelike deckbuilder from Terry Cavanagh. You're a contestant on Lady Luck's game show, turned into a giant walking die and sent into an ever-changing dungeon. In a roguelike, losing sends you back to the start, so each attempt, called a run, is a fresh try. The equipment you collect along the way is what you build your loadout from.
Each run starts when you pick one of six characters: the Warrior, Thief, Robot, Inventor, Witch or Jester. Each one begins with its own equipment and its own special rules. You walk across a map of spots that hold enemies, treasure chests and shops, and you reach the next floor through an exit. When you walk into an enemy, the fight is one-on-one and played in turns, and each turn the game rolls dice for you to place into the slots on your equipment. The number on each die decides what that equipment does, so where you put each die matters.
Winning fights earns you coins and experience, and both make your next fight easier. Coins buy equipment and healing at shops, and each level up fully heals you, raises your maximum health and can add a die to your roll. A run crosses six floors, with a boss waiting on the last one, and your health hitting zero ends the run. Winning runs unlock more characters and new episodes, each with its own twist on the rules. Every character has six episodes, and the free Reunion update adds one more for each.

Enemies
Enemies are Lady Luck's minions, placed across the floors of each dungeon to stop your dice from finishing an episode. They range from humanoids and animals to fantasy monsters and everyday objects, and they sort into five levels that grow tougher as you go deeper. Bosses close out each episode on the sixth floor, while a small Other group holds special foes such as the Jester. Each enemy brings its own dice and equipment and, in some cases, weaknesses, and learning those is the key to getting through a run.
Collectibles
Challenges
Dicey Dungeons challenges count as achievements on Steam and Xbox and as trophies on PlayStation, and each one unlocks an enemy bio. They cover finishing episodes, the Elimination Round, Parallel Universe and Bonus Round sets, and one-off feats such as big damage turns and status effects. The hardest are finishing every regular episode, Hard Mode Bonus Round 6 and defeating Lady Luck.
Dicey Dungeons gameplay tips
- Learn the basics with the Warrior. It's the first character you play and its equipment is straightforward, so you can learn how dice and slots work before you try a character with stranger rules.
- Read each slot's rule before you place a die. Some slots only take odd or even numbers, or values above or below a set number. A die that doesn't fit can't go in, so plan which die goes where before you place the first one.
- Mix your equipment types. Weapons, shields and healing items can all share your loadout, and space is limited. Pick equipment that covers attack, defense and healing so one kind of enemy can't catch you without an answer.
- Fight the optional enemies early. You can reach a floor's exit without beating every enemy, but each win pays a coin and experience. Leveling up fully heals you and can add a die, so extra fights early make the boss on the sixth floor much easier.
- Let your Limit Break work for you. Taking damage charges your character's Limit Break, which triggers that character's own skill. Save it for a turn where it swings the fight instead of firing it the moment it's ready.
- Heal up before the last floor. A run ends the moment your health reaches zero, and the boss waits on the sixth floor. Spend coins on healing at shops when you're low, so you start the final fight with health to spare.
