X and Z scale by eight. Y does not scale, but choose a safe height in the destination dimension. Existing portals, height, and the portal search range can change the actual link. Negative block positions round down.
How to use this tool
Enter your current X, Y, and Z, then choose your travel direction. The result gives the corresponding horizontal position and its block coordinates. Y stays unchanged in the calculation; you still need a safe destination height.
Converting coordinates
Divide Overworld X and Z by eight to get the corresponding Nether position. Multiply Nether X and Z by eight to go the other way. For example, Overworld X 800 and Z -400 corresponds to Nether X 100 and Z -50. The block coordinate display rounds down, so -0.125 lies in block -1.
Portal links need a world check
A corresponding position helps you plan travel, but existing portals and vertical separation affect the portal the game chooses. Scout the destination, keep lava and terrain in mind, and test the link before moving valuable items. This tool does not inspect your world or predict where a newly generated portal will appear.
FAQ
Does Y divide by eight?
No. Only horizontal X and Z scale. Pick a safe height in the destination dimension.
Why is a negative block coordinate rounded down?
A block occupies a unit interval. A position of -0.125 is inside block -1, rather than block 0.
Will this guarantee a portal link?
No. This gives corresponding coordinates; actual portal searching also considers existing portals and height.
