In Deep Rock Galactic, you dig through alien caves on the planet Hoxxes IV as a dwarven miner in a co-op shooter. You can team up with up to three friends or go solo with a robot helper named Bosco. Each dwarf picks one of four classes, and each class brings its own tools to the fight.
A session starts on the Space Rig, where you pick a region of the planet and a mission. Each mission builds a new cave with its own layout and enemy waves, and it gives the team a main goal, like mining a set amount of a mineral called Morkite or digging up alien eggs. You tunnel through rock to find what you need and fight off the alien bugs that come after you. Once the goal is done, the team calls the Drop Pod and has to reach it before it leaves. Rewards go into weapon and armor upgrades, and promoting a dwarf opens Deep Dives and the Forge, where weapon overclocks are made.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a solo spin-off on the same planet. It's seen from above, one dwarf's guns fire on their own, and you spend each run moving, digging for ore and picking upgrades before heading back to the Drop Pod for a harder stage. Its classes, weapons and progression are separate from the main game.

Deep Rock Galactic gameplay tips
- Start with Deep Rock Galactic if you want to play with friends. It's the first-person co-op game, where a mixed squad of Scout, Engineer, Gunner and Driller covers more jobs than four players all picking the same class.
- Pick Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor for short solo sessions. Your weapons fire on their own, so each run is about moving, mining and choosing upgrades rather than aiming.
- Don't expect progress to carry between the two games. Each one has its own classes, weapons, unlocks and upgrades, so you start fresh in whichever you pick up second.
- Take the optional secondary objective in Deep Rock Galactic when it fits your route. It adds extra rewards on top of the main objective, so it's worth a detour when it sits close to your path.
- In Survivor, keep moving and digging. Mining through cave walls is how you find ore and open escape routes, so standing in one spot lets the swarm close in.
