Steal An Egg Beginner's Guide

Updated on August 17, 2026 (2 minutes ago)

Eggs appear around the map in Steal An Egg. Pick one up with E, carry it back to your safe zone or base, place it in the pen, and wait for it to hatch. The pet can then produce income for your next run.

Speed matters more than a greedy shortcut at the start. Build enough Speed to make safe returns, then use pet income to train before reaching for a harder biome.

Steal An Egg Beginner's Guide

Steal an egg, bring it home, and hatch a pet

Use this route for your first few runs:

  1. Find a nearby egg. Start in a lower area so the return trip is easier to control.
  2. Pick it up with E. Carry the egg instead of wandering farther into the map.
  3. Run straight to the safe zone. A guardian can catch a player who is too slow for the area and make the carried egg drop.
  4. Place the egg in your pen. The egg needs time to hatch, and different eggs can take different amounts of time.
  5. Let the pet earn income. Use that income to train Speed before making a longer trip.

Size and mutations can affect hatch time, and some rare eggs may take hours according to the guide report. Rare or Secret eggs are also not limited only to the highest-level biome, so lower areas can still be worth checking.

Train on the treadmill before pushing into harder biomes

Train Speed at the treadmill in your base. Treadmill upgrades improve training efficiency and steps. A base upgrade is separate: it increases pet storage, not your Speed directly.

The table below uses guide-reported speed values from August 15, 2026. Treat them as recommended or source-listed thresholds, not permanent hard gates. If the live game shows a different requirement, follow the in-game value.

BiomeSource-listed speed
ForestNo minimum speed listed
Lake900
Desert10K
Jungle40K
Snow170K
Volcano700K
Abyss Ocean2.5 million
Prehistoric17 million
Cosmic700 million

You do not need to chase Cosmic on your first session. Train until a nearby target feels reliable, then move up one step at a time. A returned egg is worth more than a dramatic sprint that ends with an empty backpack.

Reach the safe zone before the guardian catches you

Guardians protect eggs in the biomes. If you enter an area while too slow, one can catch you, ragdoll or fling you, and make you drop the egg. Start your return early instead of waiting until the guardian is already beside you.

Other players can also interrupt a run. Baseball bats can ragdoll or fling a player carrying an egg. The guide reports that bear traps can hold a player for five seconds and cause a carried egg to drop. Keep your route short when the server is busy.

Trails are cosmetic items that provide a Speed boost. A guide report lists 10 Trails ranging from Common to Divine, but that count and rarity range can change as the game updates.

Egg spawns also follow a reported reset cycle. The August 15, 2026 guide puts the reset at five minutes, followed by a 13-second map closure before the next cycle. Treat those timings as guide-reported values, not a promise that every live server will use them forever.

For a steady first session, make safe returns first, let pets build income, train Speed, and then test the next biome. That order keeps one unlucky guardian from turning your whole run into a donation.
