Your best chest target in Clover Time depends on the tier you want. Normal, Medium, and Big Chests have different boss lists, and some bosses appear in more than one list. Opening lower-tier chests can move you toward the next tier through guaranteed conversions.
Here are the boss levels, locations, direct drop rates, and other reported ways to get each chest.
What are the Clover Time chest types?
The beta snapshot has three chest tiers: Normal Chest, Medium Chest, and Big Chest. Their reported rarity labels are Epic, Legendary, and Mythic, respectively. As the tier rises, the reported rewards move from common materials and low-tier consumables toward higher-tier materials, Mana Crystals, Spins, additional chests, gamepass rewards, and a pet.
| Chest | Reported rarity | Broad reward profile |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Chest | Epic | Common crafting materials and lower-tier consumables |
| Medium Chest | Legendary | Higher-tier materials, Mana Crystals, Spins, and additional chests |
| Big Chest | Mythic | The upper end of the reported reward pool, including gamepass rewards and a pet |
How to get Normal Chests in Clover Time
You can get a Normal Chest directly by defeating one of five bosses. Each boss has a reported 9.5% Normal Chest drop chance.

| Boss | Location | Level | Direct Normal Chest chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chain Bandit, also called Salik | Ruins | 20+ | 9.5% |
| Earth Bandit Boss | Hage Forest | 25+ | 9.5% |
| Mana Wolf | Hage Forest | 35+ | 9.5% |
| Zora | Rayaka Village | 50+ | 9.5% |
| Fire Mage Boss | Rayaka Village | 55+ | 9.5% |
Chain Bandit, or Salik, is the natural first target once you reach level 20 because it is the earliest listed boss for this drop. Defeating a boss only gives you the listed chest chance, so a win does not guarantee a Normal Chest.
Current guides also report Normal Chests from claiming Daily and Playtime Rewards, completing the first-time tutorial, using the once-per-day exit prompt, buying the developer product, and redeeming qualifying promotional codes. These extra methods may change while Clover Time is in beta. For live code strings, use the Clover Time codes page.
How to get Medium Chests in Clover Time
Five bosses have a reported 3.45% direct chance to drop a Medium Chest. Mana Wolf is the earliest of these targets by level, while Fire Mage Boss is the first listed boss that can drop all three chest tiers.
| Boss | Location | Level | Direct Medium Chest chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mana Wolf | Hage Forest | 35+ | 3.45% |
| Zora | Rayaka Village | 50+ | 3.45% |
| Fire Mage Boss | Rayaka Village | 55+ | 3.45% |
| Heath Grice | Sosshi Village | 75+ | 3.45% |
| Magna Swing | Under Sosshi Bridge | 80+ | 3.45% |
You can also reach a Medium Chest without relying only on a direct drop. Opening 50 Normal Chests grants one Medium Chest, and each Normal Chest has a separate 0.56% chance to roll a Medium Chest. That makes Normal Chest farming useful even after you have outleveled the early bosses.
How to get Big Chests in Clover Time
The supported direct Big Chest route uses Fire Mage Boss or Heath Grice. Each has a reported 0.75% chance to drop one.

| Boss | Location | Level | Direct Big Chest chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fire Mage Boss | Rayaka Village | 55+ | 0.75% |
| Heath Grice | Sosshi Village | 75+ | 0.75% |
Opening 25 Medium Chests grants one Big Chest. A Medium Chest can also roll a Big Chest at a separate 0.63% chance, so both the direct route and the lower-tier conversion work toward the same goal.
Magna Swing is a Medium Chest target, but its Big Chest listing conflicts with the boss-specific tables. Treat Fire Mage Boss and Heath Grice as the supported Big Chest bosses instead. Developer products and qualifying codes are reported as Normal Chest routes, not confirmed Big Chest drops.
Which Clover Time chest route should you farm?
Choose the boss that matches your level and the chest tier you need:
- At level 20+, farm Chain Bandit or Salik for the earliest direct Normal Chest route.
- At level 35+, Mana Wolf is the earliest direct Medium Chest target.
- At level 55+, Fire Mage Boss is the earliest supported direct Big Chest target and the only supported boss listed for Normal, Medium, and Big Chests.
For Chain Bandit, start at the Grimoire Tower teleport portal, walk straight to Cole, and take the left path. To find Mana Wolf, leave the Rayaka Village portal and take the first left. In Rayaka Village, Zora is in the center to the right of the portal, and Fire Mage is behind the nearby windmill. Heath Grice is in front of the Sosshi Village church, while Magna Swing is under the right side of Sosshi Bridge.
Bosses have a listed three-minute respawn, so you can stay with a target and repeat the fight instead of searching for another boss after each defeat. If you need a higher tier before you can handle its boss, keep opening the lower tier and use the 50 Normal Chest and 25 Medium Chest conversions.
