Build Your Backrooms is a free Roblox maze tycoon from Wind Sun Moon. You string hallway Buildings into a liminal maze, park monsters that catch visitors and NPCs for Cash, clear more plots, and Rebirth for stronger shop options. Monsters still catch people while you are offline, so the maze earns even when you are not standing on it.
Exact Rebirth numbers sit in the Upgrade tab. Trust that panel for your save; thresholds climb as you Rebirth and can change in patches.

How to start your maze and earn Cash
Early game is one loop: connect Buildings, place a monster, collect Cash, buy more space, push the Rebirth meters.

- Place Buildings. WASD to move, Space to jump, left click for menus. Press R to rotate a piece before you drop it.
- Keep every room linked from the entrance. Buy hallways and rooms from the shop and connect them. A floating room with no path gets almost no visitors, which means almost no Cash.
- Buy a monster from the Monsters Shop. Early slots are scarce. Wanderer is the cheap starter; Smiler is the next step up. Place the catcher where people actually walk.
- Let catches pay you. Visitors and NPCs walking your maze get grabbed and turn into Cash. Better monster multipliers and stronger rooms raise each grab over time.
- Expand plots when the grid feels cramped. Spend Cash to clear rubble past your build area. That unlocks more plots and room for longer paths.
- Hop into other players’ mazes when yours is still thin. Entry and getting caught both pay. Entry-style rewards can refresh on a short cooldown, so quick visits help before your own layout is rich.

Funnel traffic toward your best rooms and highest-multiplier monsters near the entrance so visitors hit them sooner. When the Buildings meter is the only thing holding Rebirth, spam cheap corridors and crossroads instead of fancy dead ends. Skip pure decor early if Cash is tight; path length and income rooms matter more than looking spooky.
Join the game group and like the experience if a free monster by current Rebirth is offered. It fills a slot for free. Robux extra slots and Double Cash are optional long-term buys, not starter requirements.
Monster shop tiers open as you Rebirth. Prices and multipliers can patch, so confirm costs in the live shop. Default options include Wanderer and Smiler. Rebirth 1 typically unlocks Hound and Crawler. Later Rebirths open Siren Lamp, Water Dweller, Hotel Keeper, Mimic, Glitch Entity, Red Watcher, and eventually Grasper. Each catcher has its own multiplier and a cooldown after a grab. More Buildings and plots also raise how many monsters you can place at once.
How Rebirth works and when to take it
Rebirth is the prestige step, with one big twist: you keep your maze. You do not rebuild from zero the way many tycoons force you to. That is why taking Rebirth early is safe here.

Open Upgrade, then the Rebirth panel. You need all three meters filled before the button works:
- Buildings placed on your maze
- Plots unlocked (cleared build space)
- Cash currently held, not lifetime earned
That Cash rule is the sneaky one. Spending under the bar locks the button even if you already earned far more earlier. Park enough balance, press Rebirth, then spend again.
Hitting the button grants a Cash income multiplier, new Buildings and Monsters in the shops, and Biomes after the first Rebirth (fresh look and feel, plus some bonuses). Later Rebirths keep adding higher-end rooms and entities. Expect unlock themes like storage and pipe rooms early, pool-style pieces next, hotel rooms mid, arcade and neon later, then dark corridor, nest, and red pool style pieces near the top. Treat those names as examples only. Your live Shop after each Rebirth is the real unlock list. The Rebirth UI may show bars for the next level (Rebirth 1 is a common first screenshot); always read the meters on your screen, not old screenshot numbers.
Take Rebirth as soon as all three meters are ready. One more cosmetic room usually costs more than the next multiplier and unlock set. Cheap Buildings finish the building count without draining the Cash meter you still need.
Afterward, keep expanding plots, swapping in better monsters, and wiring new rooms into the same maze. You stack power on a base that stayed put.
Prestige timing is a different puzzle in games that do wipe or reshape progress, such as the Grow a Chicken Fighter Rebirth guide and the Slime RNG Rebirth guide. Build Your Backrooms is the rare case where Rebirth keeps the base, so the “do I lose my grind?” stress is much lower here.
