You fight in MY HERO ULTRA RUMBLE, a free online battle royale from Bandai Namco based on the My Hero Academia anime that runs on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC. Each standard match puts 24 players into eight teams of three, and you pick a hero or villain from the show, each with their own Quirk (the superpower they have in the anime). Every hero and villain fits one of five roles, Strike, Assault, Rapid, Technical or Support, and each role gives your whole team a different boost, so the mix on your team matters. The arena keeps shrinking, pushing teams into closer fights until only one is left standing.
After you land, most of the early minutes go to gathering, since items heal you and refill your Guard Points, the shield-like bar that soaks up hits before your health takes damage, while Quirk Skill Cards level up your hero's special moves, which pays off in later fights. Stay inside the safe zone, since the Poison Mist outside it drains your health but leaves your Guard Points alone. If your health hits zero, you go down and crawl, and if you survive 20 seconds without being hit, you get back up, with teammates able to Help you up sooner. If you lose your remaining Down HP, you're KO'd, and teammates can bring you back with three Revive Cards and the Badge you drop.
Playing earns experience, which raises your License, and the Special License track unlocks some characters at set levels. Roll Tickets pay for random rolls that can give you characters, costumes, emotes and voices, and any duplicate you roll turns into Hero Souls. You can trade Hero Souls for a Battle Style Ticket, which unlocks a character or Battle Style of your choice. A Rental Ticket lets you try a character you don't own.

Characters
Characters in MY HERO ULTRA RUMBLE are heroes and villains from My Hero Academia, and each one has three Quirk skills plus a Special Action that shapes how it fights. Every character falls into one of five roles, Strike, Assault, Rapid, Technical or Support, which describe how they usually play. Some characters start unlocked, while others come through the Special License and rolls. Battle Styles are alternate versions of characters with their own skills, and new seasons keep adding to the roster.
Quirk Skill Cards
Quirk Skill Cards are items found during matches that raise one of your character's Quirk Skills, labeled α, β or γ, by one level. Each card has a role color, Strike red, Assault yellow, Rapid blue, Support green or Technical purple, and it levels up a skill only when that color matches your character's role. Cards that don't match can be handed to a teammate whose role fits or activated as a short buff. Level Up Cards are a separate item that can raise any Quirk Skill you choose.
Maps
MY HERO ULTRA RUMBLE battles take place on stages, the game's name for maps. Stages include Chaos City Ver. 02, U.S.J. Ver. 03, U.A. Island Ver. 02 and Neo Academia, and each one plays differently, from underground shopping passages to a floating Sky Area. Regular matches cycle through the stages on a timer, so players can't choose, and the Safe Zone shrinks in phases while players outside it take growing area damage.
Ultra Rumble gameplay tips
- Stay within reach of a teammate. The game is built around teams of three. Teammates who are close can reach you before you're KO'd, so staying together keeps you in the fight.
- Clear the area before you save civilians. Saving civilians earns item rewards, but it takes time and leaves you exposed while you do it. Those rewards can include Revive Cards, which you'll want on hand when a teammate is KO'd.
- Save Plus Ultra for a bad moment. Plus Ultra fills as you lose HP and over time, faster when teammates are KO'd. When it's full, activating it restores all your Guard Points, makes you briefly invincible and pushes nearby enemies away, and the effect lasts 15 seconds. Save it for a rough spot, such as being alone against a whole squad, where restored Guard Points and brief invincibility can turn the fight.
- Put Level Up Cards into the Quirk Skill you use most. Level Up Cards let you pick any Quirk Skill from your Item Bag and upgrade it. Higher levels let you use that skill more often or make it hit harder, so focusing on one skill pays off in every fight.
- Crouch to move quietly. Crouching lets you move without making noise, which helps when you're setting up an ambush or repositioning.
