In Fabledom, a relaxed fairytale city builder, you start with a few settlers called Fablings on a small patch of land. Your job is to grow that settlement into a kingdom by placing houses, farms and workshops. Each Fabling needs food, a home and a place to work, so you keep an eye on all three as the town grows.
Early on, most of your effort goes into growing the population and keeping it fed. New buildings unlock when your population reaches set milestones, and better housing draws higher classes of residents. Each milestone also pays out Coin, and that money pays for expansion.
Past your borders, you trade with neighboring kingdoms and manage relations with their rulers. Trolls can invade, so you may need an army and a hero to defend your land. Over time, you work toward a bigger kingdom, nobility moving into your city, and a ruler you have won over, since romance is a central part of the game.

Buildings
Buildings are the backbone of Fabledom. Homes house your Peasants and Commoners, farms and bakeries keep the village fed, and amenities keep residents happy. Military buildings, walls and towers, and courting buildings such as the Messengers Guild and Embassy handle defense and diplomacy. The Palace Main Hall is the late-game hub, and many buildings need workers and carry upkeep.
Resources
Resources are the goods that keep a Fabledom kingdom running, including food, wood, coal, stone, iron and prismatic liquid. Most come from buildings that gather or craft them, and workers carry them into shared stockpiles. Food and coal matter most early on, since they keep residents fed and warm through winter. Trade with neighboring kingdoms can fill gaps when you run short.
Fabledom gameplay tips
- Build a Granary and stock food before winter. Crops stop growing in the cold months, so the food you saved has to carry the town until spring.
- Get farms and food buildings running early. A hungry population stalls everything else you build, so food should come before the rest.
- Give Peasant Homesteads a Beehive or an Apple tree. Each one grows Homegrown food for the family living there, which takes some pressure off your farms.
- Plan your courtship around what each ruler wants. Agnes opens with Vegetables, Giovanni with Coin, Ramone with Grain, Farrah with Planks, and Winifred and Sir Payne with Coal, so you can save the right resources before you approach them.
- Build your army and hero before you build the Mystic Mine. The mine yields coins but draws trolls, so your defenses should be ready before they arrive.
