The island in Card Survival: Tropical Island is split into connected locations, starting from the Beach and reaching out to places like the Wetlands, Secret Valley and the Volcano. Each one has its own materials, dangers and routes, so knowing how locations unlock and how to get to them helps you decide where to explore and where to settle.

How Locations Unlock as You Explore
Playing as the Hunter, you start on the Beach, and the rest of the island stays hidden until you explore it. Each location keeps track of how much of it you've explored, and its neighbors open once that progress reaches a set percentage. Searching the location you're in is what builds that progress.
Because each location opens from the ones beside it, the island unfolds as a chain rather than all at once. You reach far-off parts of the island by working through the locations in between. That's why it pays to explore each location well before you move on, since its progress decides when the next ones appear.
How to Reach Each Location
Walking between locations takes time, and the trip gets quicker once a path has been made. Routes you travel often are worth clearing early, since a path on a busy route saves time every time you use it. Some routes also need a skill before you can use them.
Bird Rock needs Swimming, while Secret Cove and the route from the Wetlands up to the Jungle Highlands need Climbing. The Volcano and Acid Lake have toxic air, so you need a gas mask before you go in. Check what a location requires before you set out, so you're ready for the route when you reach it.
Where to Build a Base for Farming, Water and Storms
Where you settle should depend on what you need most. Crops grow faster in the Western Grasslands, Eastern Grasslands and Secret Valley, which means you get harvests sooner if farming is your priority. The Wetlands is the only location where you can build a well, and its puddles refill with rain, so it's where to go if you want a well.
Storms are the other factor to weigh. They wash loose items away on the Bay and Jungle Outskirts, but they don't do that in the Western Grasslands, and Secret Cove is sheltered from storms altogether. If losing things to storms worries you, the Western Grasslands and Secret Cove are the locations to compare against the coast.
Materials and Creatures That Set Locations Apart
Locations differ in what you can gather there, so it helps to know where to look for a particular material. Rocks has tide pools and flint, and the Eastern Highlands and the Volcano both have copper ore. If you need copper, plan a trip to one of those two places rather than expecting to find it on the way.
Desolate Beach is different again. It has no palm trees, and Monitor Lizards live there.
FAQ
Can I have a well and faster-growing crops in the same location?
Not in one location. The Wetlands is the only place a well can be built, while crops grow faster in the Western Grasslands, Eastern Grasslands and Secret Valley. If you want both, you'll need to split your time between two locations, and paths between them will make that travel quicker.
Do I need a gas mask for the Volcano?
Yes, because the Volcano's air is toxic. It's also one of the places with copper ore, so a trip there with a gas mask can bring back copper too.
Where do I begin in Card Survival: Tropical Island?
As the Hunter, you begin on the Beach. Explore that location until its neighbors open, then move to them and repeat the process. This is how the rest of the island opens up.
