Tasks, goals and challenges
Frame type identifies a task, goal or challenge. The parent field shows its place in the branch. Some entries are hidden until their conditions reveal them. Visibility describes the advancement interface, rather than permission to attempt the objective.
Completing every required group
An advancement can require several condition groups. Complete at least one condition in each required group. Many simple objectives have one group. Objectives such as Adventuring Time, Monsters Hunted and A Balanced Diet have larger required sets, listed in their criteria details. The required set can differ from the full biome, mob or food collection.
Rewards and icons
Rewards show explicitly recorded experience, recipes or other rewards. No explicit reward means the advancement definition does not grant one. Its icon is the item chosen by the game's display definition; it is not necessarily an item you receive for completing the objective.
Java advancement coverage
This collection includes displayed Java advancements in the checked release. Internal recipe-unlock definitions without an advancement display are excluded. Bedrock uses achievements, which have a separate collection and eligibility rules. Completing an advancement does not create Bedrock achievement credit.
FAQ
Does Adventuring Time require every biome in the biome collection?
No. It requires the biomes named by that advancement. Read its criteria list for the exact required set in the checked release.
Is the advancement icon its reward?
No. The icon comes from the display definition. Any explicit reward appears in the reward field.
Why are Bedrock achievements separate?
Bedrock has a separate achievement system with its own objectives and eligibility rules. This collection covers Java advancements.
