Bedrock armor patterns depend on smithing templates. The source of a template and its duplication ingredients matter when you want matching decoration across several armor pieces.

Acquisition describes possible sources. Duplication produces templates; it does not decorate armor by itself.

Gather the template ingredients
Check the duplication recipe for the particular pattern. A Bedrock recipe can accept a different block choice from a Java recipe with the same template name. Use the ingredients recorded for Bedrock before committing your diamonds.
Plan the finished look
The trim material sets the color; the template supplies the design. Smithing consumes the template used for the application. Trims add decoration rather than armor protection, and a possible reward source does not promise a template on each visit.

Does the template alone choose the trim color?
No. The template chooses the pattern. The separate trim material determines its color.
