All 6 Vehicle Missions in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Updated on September 26, 2026 (27 days ago)

Vehicle missions let CJ take emergency work, passenger jobs, police pursuits, escort runs, and freight deliveries directly from a suitable vehicle. Their permanent health, armor, fireproofing, taxi, and service rewards make them worth finishing before the hardest parts of Story Mode.

Use the correct service vehicle, activate the sub-mission control, and finish the required target without abandoning the vehicle or objective. Most level-based activities need one uninterrupted run; Taxi fares accumulate across sessions.

No entries match those filters.

Start with the right vehicle

Enter an eligible vehicle and use the on-screen sub-mission control to begin. The button changes by platform, but the rule does not: leaving the required vehicle, destroying it, running out of time, or cancelling the activity ends the attempt. Park somewhere safe before pressing the control so traffic does not ruin the run before the first target appears.

The required vehicles are specific:

  • Firefighter uses the standard Fire Truck, not the ladder variant.
  • Paramedic uses an Ambulance.
  • Taxi Driver uses a Taxi or Cabbie.
  • Vigilante uses an eligible law-enforcement vehicle. Using the Hunter starts the same completion path under the name Brown Thunder.
  • Pimping requires a Broadway.
  • Freight Train can be started from a Brown Streak or Freight train once the activity is unlocked.

Firefighter, Paramedic, Vigilante, and Pimping need an uninterrupted climb to their target level. Taxi fares are cumulative, so you can stop and resume later. Freight Train's required stages can also be handled separately. Save before the continuous activities, repair or replace a damaged vehicle when the rules allow it, and avoid starting with a wanted level unless the job itself expects police attention.

Take the permanent upgrades early

Firefighter asks CJ to extinguish burning vehicles and the people who flee from them. Completing Level 12 makes CJ fireproof while he is on foot. That protection applies to flames, not explosions, so a burning car can still end the celebration. Approach from a clear angle, use the water jet before driving into the scene, and watch for burning pedestrians running into traffic.

Paramedic sends CJ to pick up injured pedestrians and return them to a hospital within the time limit. Completing Level 12 raises maximum health to 150. Plan pickups in clusters, load the Ambulance before returning, and drive smoothly enough that the vehicle survives the full run. Smaller towns can produce shorter routes and less traffic than the major cities, which is valuable when later levels add more patients.

Vigilante has CJ pursue and eliminate marked criminals. Completing Level 12 raises maximum armor to 150. Police vehicles start the standard version, while the Hunter runs Brown Thunder and counts toward the same reward. Bring ammunition, keep the target visible on the radar, and deal with the suspect vehicle before its occupants scatter. The job can create wanted-level pressure, so an armored or highly mobile police vehicle is much easier to preserve than a battered patrol car.

Those upgrades affect the rest of the game, which makes an early attempt worthwhile. Paramedic gives more room for mistakes in gunfights, Vigilante improves armor capacity, and Firefighter removes a common environmental threat during chaotic missions.

Finish the service jobs efficiently

Taxi Driver requires 50 completed fares in total. The trips do not need to be consecutive. After the target is reached, every Taxi and Cabbie gains rechargeable nitrous and a boost jump. Take fares in an area you know well, avoid unnecessary collisions, and use a Pay 'n' Spray or replacement cab between runs if the vehicle is becoming unreliable. The passenger wants a ride, not a demonstration of structural failure.

Pimping alternates between dropping off and picking up sex workers while CJ drives a Broadway. Complete Level 10 to reverse the normal transaction so prostitutes pay CJ instead of charging him. Drop-offs are timed, but the return pickup gives you room to repair the car when needed. Stay near the client area instead of driving away after a drop-off, because the next call can turn into a fight before the passenger is ready to leave.

Freight Train unlocks after Yay Ka-Boom-Boom. Each stage sends the train around San Andreas under a time limit, with careful station stops and derailment risk at excessive speed. Complete Level 2 for a $50,000 reward and free train rides. Accelerate hard on long straights, begin braking well before the platform, and reduce speed when the train starts shaking. Missing the station by a carriage length is still missing the station.

Track 100% completion correctly

Every mission type here contributes to 100% completion, but the targets are not identical. Firefighter, Paramedic, and Vigilante end at Level 12 for their required milestone. Pimping requires Level 10, Freight Train requires Level 2, and Taxi Driver uses a cumulative fare total instead of a level.

If the percentage is not moving, confirm that you finished the target level rather than merely reached it. For the continuous activities, a failed run below the final result does not preserve the previous level. Taxi progress is the exception, and its completed fares remain cumulative across separate sessions.

FAQ

Q.

Which vehicle missions are required for 100% completion?

Firefighter, Paramedic, Taxi Driver, Vigilante, Pimping, and Freight Train all contribute. Each uses its own level or cumulative-fare target.

Q.

Do vehicle mission levels carry over after failure?

The continuous level-based runs do not. Firefighter, Paramedic, Vigilante, and Pimping must reach their required result in one attempt. Taxi fares accumulate across separate sessions, and the Freight Train stages can be completed separately.

Q.

What permanent rewards do the emergency missions give?

Firefighter makes CJ fireproof on foot, Paramedic raises maximum health to 150, and Vigilante or Brown Thunder raises maximum armor to 150 after their required levels are completed.

Q.

Does Brown Thunder count as Vigilante?

Yes. Brown Thunder is the Hunter-based version of Vigilante and awards the same maximum-armor upgrade when the required level is completed.

Q.

Do Taxi Driver fares have to be completed in one run?

No. Successful fares are cumulative. Once CJ completes 50 in total, every Taxi and Cabbie gains rechargeable nitrous and a boost jump.

Q.

When does the Freight Train challenge unlock?

It becomes available after Yay Ka-Boom-Boom. Complete Level 2 to satisfy the 100% requirement, earn the completion payment, and unlock free train rides.
