VV Ultimatum Hollow Trait Tier List (August 2026)

Updated on August 18, 2026 (about 1 hour ago)

Iron Skin is the safest all-round Hollow Trait for the August 2026 Update 2 snapshot. Wings is the clean mobility pick, Deadly Claws is the Hakuda choice, and Tailbone is the raw Cero damage option. Innocuous Presence also reaches S Tier when stealth and roaming matter.

This is a general-purpose Arrancar and Resurrección ranking for players choosing traits before their build is locked in. It weighs cross-build usefulness first, then practical damage, defense, mobility, Resurrección uptime, and the size of each downside. Treat it as an August snapshot, not a permanent meta list. If you are planning the rest of your build too, the organization setup guide covers that separate step.

TierHollow TraitsBest fit
SIron Skin, Wings, Deadly Claws, Tailbone, Innocuous PresenceBroad value, mobility, Hakuda, Cero, or stealth
ASkinny, Dense Muscles, Tentacles, GiantStrong builds with a clear tradeoff
BBack Scales, Energized, ExoskeletonCero/Kido hybrids or defensive specialists
CHornsCero consistency without direct damage

The ranking uses the complete 13-trait set from the August 17, 2026 Update 2 snapshot. A lower tier does not mean a trait is unusable. It means the trait gives up more general value or asks for a narrower build than the traits above it.

VV Ultimatum Hollow Trait Tier List (August 2026)

S Tier

TraitBest forEffectsTradeoff
Iron SkinDefense-first builds+4% Melee Defense; +35% Posture RegenNo direct damage or movement bonus
WingsMobility and roaming+3% Movement Speed; +5% Shunpo Stamina; +3% Shunpo SpeedLess direct damage or defense
Deadly ClawsHakuda pressure+3% Hakuda Damage; +0.1 Max APLimited value for Cero or Kido-first builds
TailboneCero burst+20% Cero Damage; Cero is 25% thinnerThe narrower beam costs consistency
Innocuous PresenceStealth and roamingName hidden; Reiatsu signature hidden; Resurrección duration +20s; +5% Movement SpeedStealth matters less when enemies can already track you

Iron Skin is the easiest S Tier recommendation because its value does not depend on a particular attack family. Faster posture recovery also helps you stay active after pressure, so it is a reliable foundation for players who do not want to reroll around a narrow plan.

Wings is the best clean movement package. The speed, Shunpo stamina, and Shunpo speed bonuses make travel and repositioning smoother without adding a listed penalty. Pick it when reaching targets, escaping bad trades, or keeping distance matters more than a damage stat.

Deadly Claws belongs here for Hakuda players even though its value falls sharply for other builds. Tailbone follows the same rule from the Cero side: the 20% damage boost is huge, but the 25% thinner beam is a real aiming tax. Use Tailbone when you value burst and can work around that narrower hitbox.

Innocuous Presence is the most mode-dependent S Tier trait. Hidden name and Reiatsu make it attractive for stealth and roaming, while the movement and Resurrección duration bonuses still help outside that plan. It is less impressive in fights where stealth has little room to matter, so do not force it over Iron Skin or Wings for a simple all-purpose setup.

A Tier

TraitBest forEffectsTradeoff
SkinnyFast movement builds+7.5% Movement Speed; -1.2% Melee DefenseGives up some defense for speed
Dense MusclesDamage and Hakuda hybrids+1% Weapon Damage; +1% Hakuda Damage; Resurrección duration +45sSmaller damage gains than the most focused picks
TentaclesMelee proc builds16% chance to inflict poison damage on melee attacks; -1% Weapon DamageThe proc is unreliable and the weapon penalty is constant
GiantTank and bruiser builds+5% Melee Defense; +2% Kido Defense; -5% Movement SpeedThe speed penalty is hard to ignore

A Tier traits are good keeps when their tradeoff matches your build. Skinny is the speed alternative to Wings, but the defense loss makes it harder to recommend blindly. Dense Muscles is a steady hybrid pick with a useful Resurrección duration bonus, especially if you use both Weapon and Hakuda damage.

Tentacles can pay off over many melee hits, but a 16% poison proc is not the same as guaranteed damage. The -1% Weapon Damage line is always present, which is why this trait stays below the more dependable S Tier choices. Giant is the opposite kind of specialist: it adds real melee and Kido defense, but losing 5% movement speed can make every chase and escape feel heavier.

B Tier

TraitBest forEffectsTradeoff
Back ScalesCero uptime and long fightsCero charges 12% faster; Resurrección duration +45s; Cero Damage -5%Gives up direct Cero damage
EnergizedKido and Weapon hybrids+2% Kido Damage; Weapon Damage slightly scales from KidoWeak for pure Hakuda or Strength builds
ExoskeletonDefensive sustain+2% Melee Defense; +5 Posture; Resurrección healthpack 15% larger; -2% Movement SpeedMobility tax for a defensive package

Back Scales is a useful fourth-slot choice for players who want more Cero uptime and a longer Resurrección window. The 12% faster charge and +45 seconds are meaningful, but losing 5% Cero damage makes it a poor replacement for Tailbone when burst is the only goal.

Energized should be judged by your stat spread, not by its Kido number alone. It makes sense for a Kido and Weapon hybrid, while a pure Hakuda or Strength build gets much less from the scaling. Exoskeleton gives a sturdy defensive package and a larger Resurrección healthpack, but Wings and Iron Skin are usually easier to use across more situations because Exoskeleton slows you down.

C Tier

TraitBest forEffectsTradeoff
HornsCero consistencyCero width +35%; Cero length +10%Adds no direct Cero damage, defense, mobility, posture, or Resurrección uptime

Horns is useful if your Cero shots miss because the beam feels too narrow or short. The wider and longer beam can make attacks easier to place, but it does not raise the damage itself. That leaves it below traits that improve damage, survival, movement, or Resurrección uptime under this overall ranking.

Lock in traits before removing your mask

While progressing as a Hollow, defeating and consuming other Hollows can give you a chance to receive traits. You can reject an unwanted offer. Collect the traits you want before mask removal, because new Hollow Traits cannot be gained after becoming an Arrancar.

The final Arrancar path can retain 2, 3, or 4 traits depending on the Hollow stage reached before mask removal. The four-slot route is tied to the Vasto Lorde or Vastocar path. If you are comparing that route with the wider Shinigami path, the Shinigami progression guide helps separate race progression from Hollow trait planning.

Pick the trait that matches the attacks you actually use. Iron Skin and Wings are the safest general holds, Deadly Claws and Tailbone are stronger for focused Hakuda or Cero builds, and the lower tiers become much better when their exact tradeoff fits your fourth slot.

FAQ

Q.

What is the best Hollow Trait for a Cero build?

Tailbone is the best raw Cero damage pick because it adds 20% Cero Damage, but its beam is 25% thinner. Choose Horns for a wider, longer beam or Back Scales for faster Cero charging and longer Resurrección uptime if consistency matters more than burst.

Q.

How many Hollow Traits can you keep?

You can retain 2, 3, or 4 traits depending on the Hollow stage you reach before mask removal. The four-slot route is tied to the Vasto Lorde or Vastocar path.

Q.

Can you get new Hollow Traits after becoming an Arrancar?

No. Collect and keep the traits you want before removing your mask, because new Hollow Traits cannot be gained after becoming an Arrancar.
