In Iron Soul: Dungeon, race is the permanent passive package you roll with Race Rerolls at the race banner. Duplicates raise the same race to 3★, and that is where the real bonuses live.
For overall dungeon clears, chase Lucifer or Demon. Both sit at the top of damage and still carry useful extras. Keep Fairy or Sorcerer if you want pure burst without mythic luck. Grab Night Elf when you care more about ore and drops than raw DPS. Treat Vampire as a season-limited mobility pick, and do not plan a build around Dragoon if it is not in the live pool.

How races are ranked here
Scope is overall PvE dungeon value, with DPS first. Farm luck, defense, and mobility get labels when they matter, not a second secret S list.
Rarity alone is not power. A common starter can clear early floors while a mobility uncommon still loses on damage. Placements favor offensive density at 3★ (attack, crit, skill damage, ultimate charge, cooldown reduction), whether the race still helps outside one niche, and clear limited or legacy flags so you do not burn rerolls on dead pool entries. Common and uncommon starters only score as temporary early holds.
Approximate roll odds shift a little across patches, so treat rates as ballpark. Always confirm the live race panel in-game.
| Tier | Races | Role snapshot |
|---|---|---|
| S | Lucifer, Demon | Best overall DPS packages |
| A | Fairy, Sorcerer, Archdruid | High burst / skill hybrids |
| B | Night Elf, Angel, Vampire | Farm, defense, or mobility specialties |
| C | Dragonkin, Orc, Undead, Human | Solid early and mid placeholders |
| D | Goblin | Mobility only; worst DPS |
| Legacy | Dragoon | Season 1 only; not a standard chase |
S Tier
| Race | Best for | 3★ package highlights | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lucifer | Best all-rounder DPS | Attack +40%, Crit Rate +30%, Skill Damage +60%, Luck +100%, Move Speed +60%, Health +40% | Mythic (~0.2%); slow to 3★ |
| Demon | Near-equal DPS with CDR and dash | Attack +24%, Crit Rate +12%, Crit Damage +24%, Skill Damage +24%, CDR -24%, Move Speed +48%, Dash Distance +60% | No HP line; slightly less raw skill punch than Lucifer |
Lucifer is the race you stop worrying about. Offense, luck, mobility, and health all show up in one kit. Star investment hurts because it is mythic, but the package pays for itself in clears and drops.
Demon sits right next to Lucifer. You trade some skill damage and the HP line for cooldown reduction and stronger dash distance. If you like casting more often and moving through packs, Demon is not a consolation prize.
Keep either the moment you roll them. Spend extra Race Rerolls on stars when you can, not on fishing for a different mythic just to switch sides.
A Tier
| Race | Best for | 3★ package highlights | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fairy | Crit and ultimate burst | Crit Rate +22%, Crit Damage +32%, Skill Damage +22%, Ultimate Charge +42% | No mobility or defense lines; glass cannon |
| Sorcerer | Same glass-cannon lane as Fairy | Crit Rate +20%, Crit Damage +30%, Skill Damage +20%, Ultimate Charge +40% | Slightly softer numbers than Fairy; same fragility |
| Archdruid | Skill damage with luck and CDR | Skill Damage +50%, Luck +40%, CDR +20% (3★) | Thinner placement consensus than Fairy or Sorcerer; not a pure S contender |
Fairy and Sorcerer are the legendary damage twins. Stack crit and watch ultimate charge do the heavy lifting. They sit behind the mythic S races on full package value, but they are excellent holds when you want real DPS without waiting on a 0.2% roll.
Use every dash carefully. Neither race props you up with move speed or health, so positioning is the price of admission.
Archdruid leans skill damage, luck, and cooldown reduction instead of the Fairy-style crit and ultimate spike. It shows up less often in full public rankings than Fairy or Sorcerer, so treat it as a strong A hybrid, not an automatic S. It is still a keep for skill-focused clears and a bit of drop help.
B Tier
| Race | Specialty | 3★ package highlights | When to prefer it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Night Elf | Best farm / luck | Attack +20%, Crit Damage +20%, Skill Damage +20%, Luck +200%, Move Speed +40%, Health +30% | Ore grinding and drop-focused sessions |
| Angel | Best defense mix | Attack +20%, Crit Rate +10%, Crit Damage +20%, Ultimate Charge +20%, Move Speed +40%, Dash Distance +60%, Health +30% | Safer clears when you want HP plus mobility |
| Vampire | Best mobility (season limited) | Crit Rate +20%, Crit Damage +24%, Move Speed +100%, Dash Distance +200% | You already have damage tools and want extreme movement |
Night Elf is a weaker Lucifer with the highest luck line in the set (about +200% at 3★). Damage trails Fairy and Sorcerer, but farming crystalized ore and drop chance is where Night Elf wins. Prefer it when the session goal is resources, not pure speed clears.
Angel mixes solid damage with the best defensive combo: chunky health plus move speed and dash distance. It will not out-DPS S or pure A glass cannons, but it is the comfort pick when you want fewer deaths and still contribute.
Vampire is the mobility king: huge move speed and dash distance, with crit lines that keep damage respectable. It is limited to the current season on recent banners, so verify it in-game before you burn a stack of rerolls chasing it. After the season, treat it as unobtainable unless the game says otherwise.
C Tier
| Race | Best for | 3★ package highlights | Reroll timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dragonkin | Best early Epic | Crit Damage +20%, Skill Damage +20%, Dash Distance +40% | Keep through mid-game; chase A/S when rerolls are free |
| Orc | Early attack + HP | Attack +10%, Health +20% | Fine starter; stop starring once legendaries appear |
| Undead | Early skill + CDR + HP | Skill Damage +20%, CDR -16%, Health +20% | Decent bridge; replace when A/S shows up |
| Human | Absolute starter | Attack +10% | Weaker Orc; reroll as soon as you have spare tickets |
Dragonkin is the best C pick and a strong early Epic (~6%). Crit damage, skill damage, and a bit of dash distance carry mid-game if you lean into skills and crit chance from gear.
Orc, Undead, and Human are learning-curve holds. Orc gives the two stats that matter while you learn dungeon farming. Undead adds skill damage and cooldown reduction with some health. Human is only attack, so it is the first common you are happy to leave behind.
Do not dump every duplicate into C-tier stars if you are close to rolling A or S. A temporary 2★ Orc that gets you through floors beats a maxed common that locks your reroll budget.
D Tier
| Race | Best for | 3★ package highlights | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goblin | Dash QoL only | Move Speed +20%, Dash Cooldown Reduction -40% | Worst DPS package under these criteria; reroll when you can |
Goblin makes dashing feel nicer and that is the whole story. Under a DPS-primary ranking it is the clear bottom: no attack, crit, skill, or ultimate lines to grow into. Mobility-first rankings may place it higher; those answer a different question.
Reroll Goblin as soon as you have Race Rerolls to spare. Early-game speed does not replace missing damage once floors get serious.
Legacy
| Race | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Dragoon | Season 1 only | Attack, crit, and speed lean on older notes; not in the standard current pool |
Dragoon is here for full inventory coverage. It was Season 1 only and is not a normal banner chase now. If you already own it from that window, keep it as a personal hold. If you do not, chase live S and A races instead of waiting on a legacy roll.
How to spend Race Rerolls
Race Rerolls show up from several places, not one shop:
- Codes and seasonal rewards
- Season store, grocery, and bond shop lines
- Lucky spin
- Battle pass
- Robux purchases
- Index quests
- Season vouchers from Endless Tower floors
When tickets are scarce, keep S, keep strong A, park on Dragonkin or a healthy B specialty if that matches your goal, and free yourself from Goblin and bare Human first. Stars matter, but only on races you still want at endgame.
Seasons can add or remove limited races. If a patch moves the pool, trust the in-game race panel over any frozen letter list.
